Jigsaw joint test

Image
This was a quick test piece for something I'm currently working on. This ring is a small scale version of the edging for a tile game I'm making. More to follow shortly.

Marquetry Coasters

Image
Having had some success with my marquetry experiments I'm now going to pass that knowledge on to Nottinghack in a marquetry workshop on the 21st of November. I needed a little something that they could make and take away with them (or leave on the new table to avoid coffee rings). This was the design I came up with, the impossible triangle is definitely geek chic. It will look better in 3 different colours of veneer but we'll be fixing that on Monday Night. ( svg here )

Pond ripples

Image
Another pattern I've seen on the internet in a few places, it reminds me of the ripples in a pond (svg file)

Flower type shape

Image
I saw an interesting shape online the other day and thought I could try to copy it . The whole thing was then cut in a purple shiny card that was rescued from some stuff being thrown out at work.

Pepakura Shotgun - Unfinished

Image
A friend heard that I could now laser cut my pepakura files and he told me about a project he was about to start. He wants to resin fill a paper model of a shotgun like the halo armour, I was more than happy to modify the pdo file and cut it out for him. (I've bundled up the pdo file and the dxf files here) . Sorry that the photo isn't the clearest of them all. He has promised me photos of the build once he starts assembling it.

Laser cut Pepakura

Image
A friend at work was talking about pepakura with me. We both agreed that it took too long to cut out the shapes. Since I have a laser cutter I wondered if I could laser cut the parts. With a little bit of work I was able to convert the pattern into score lines and cut lines and run them both through the laser. Here are the first results, expect an instructable shortly and a much larger item too. ( pdo here )

Wedding Card 2

Image
This design feels a lot more delicate, a few tweaks to make certain parts thicker and stronger and it will be good to go. ( svg here )
