New Shop

Image
I took the decision to move all my items for sale off the pages of the blog and into their own custom shop. It's much easier to list all the items in one place, add links to videos, instructions and sort everything by image to make them easier to find. It'll be a slow transition because life is a bit hectic as always and these things take time to populate. If you're interested though, check out the new pages over on shopify. It's still MSRaynsford as ever.  http://msraynsford.myshopify.com/

Money Box

Another commission from tree, a simple money box with a slot on the top and an opening on the bottom. This box is also going to received the full leather treatment and I can't wait to see some photos of the finished item. Tree has been doing some epic leather carving recently.

Marble Machine #1

Image
This kit is available for purchase through my shop  https://msraynsford.ecwid.com/Laser-Cut-Marble-Machine-Kit-p95446965 During the Manchester Mini Maker Faire this weekend, the marble machines attracted quite a lot of attention. This largely involved people winding the handle on this machine in the wrong direction and watching the balls spew out over the table. After lots of discussions about ratchets and bigger arrows and bike shedding, I decided that the best way to move forward was to enclose the other half of the lift, now you can't turn the machine in the wrong direction. I may end up replacing the back panel with perspex too so you can see the balls as they go round.

HPC Responds

HPC emailed me and asked me to give them a call to discuss my previous post  where I described my experiences of poor customer service. The internet rumour mill works in mysterious ways because I got the distinct impression they hadn't actually read my blog post. I phoned them asap and gave them my name and the conversation went the way I expected it to, basically I shouldn't tell people about the poor customer service I received because it reflects badly on their company. When I managed to interrupt the opening salvo, the conversation felt a lot more even sided. I felt I managed to justify the things I had written. I received answers to some of the questions I have been asking HPC over the last 5 weeks, but some of the answers shocked me more than the poor customer service I received. I don't want to spend forever complaining about people on the internet so I will try to keep this minimal, and I'm sure I'll tell some of you more details in person. They did make a

365 Things Update

Image
I ran the whole 365 things project, cutting 365 things in 365 days. It basically left me with a box full of stuff that hasn't really moved for the last 6 months. I went to the Manchester Mini Maker Faire this weekend and decided to take the box of stuff with me. I attached a sign to it and left it under the table, giving away to stuff for free. Quite a lot of the things were taken, most of the stuff that was left was damaged or simple junk (like the whole joinery collection ). A few good things were actually left behind though and I've rescued them from the box of stuff for myself.
