A friend asked if I could cut star wars snowflakes like these upon the laser cutter. The laser can go one step better, creating details and holes on the snowflake. These are made from 2mm mdf. This is the start of a series of snowflake designs. ( svg here )
Monday the 21st of November I ran a small workshop at Nottinghack showing others a little bit about marquetry. It was mixed success but a few coasters were made and lessons learned about how to improve the next workshop. Here are some pictures from the day.
I had this idea on holiday a few weeks ago, time without the laser cutter and I was able to design a whole bunch of stuff in the evening, this weekend I was finally able to cut it. ( svg here )
My friend Tree gave me a request to cut this item for him. I decided that the water areas could be etched to make them indented and the roads and font could be cut rather than etched to make them stand out. I'm very pleased with the final result. I think we'll be trying this again on leather soon
